Oral DNA
Technology is improving in helping us control gum disease. In the past, dentists believed that regular cleanings would control the disease. We now know that certain bacteria are resistant to actual cleanings. By taking a sample of your saliva, Oral DNA can determine what bacteria are involved in your disease. With this information, we can prescribe specific antibiotics, based on your bacterial test, in addition to regular cleanings to give better treatment for our patients.
